Goals

At this training, participants will learn the knowledge needed to understand and use programmable network design based on Cisco Nexus 9000 series switches in Cisco ACI (Application-Centric Infrastructure) mode. Participants will deep dive into Cisco ACI design, which will enable them to use ACI more effectively and avoid common mistakes that can affect datacenter network infrastructure. With an focus on various design use cases, this training provides information that can help participants practice design decisions and apply best practices when using Cisco ACI in multitenant or cloud data centers.

Requirements

Familiarity with Cisco ACI implementations, data center infrastructure operations, management of Cisco data center switches and virtualization fundamentals.

  • Designing Cisco ACI access policies according to best practices
    • Using fabric system settings
    • Designing Cisco ACI logical components
    • Designing the migration of IP and logical components from an existing data center to Cisco ACI
    • Designing Cisco ACI physical structure
    • Migrating existing data center connectivity and physical components from an existing environment to Cisco ACI
    • Designing Cisco ACI external Layer 3 connectivity and Cisco ACI Layer 4-7 service insertion, including PBR-based service redirection
    • Designing the L4-L7 service insertion in single-pod Cisco ACI, by evaluating the available options and choosing the optimal connectivity flow
    • Designing L4-L7 service insertion in Cisco ACI Multi-Pod
    • Designing a transit routing solution
    • Designing service sharing using vzAny
    • Building a migration plan for Layer 2 and Layer 3 connectivity, including L3Outs and contracts
    • Migrating vSphere compute environment to Cisco ACI
    • Designing QoS for interpod (IPN) and intersite (ISN) networks
    • Designing the DHCP Relay feature, SPAN feature, Port Tracking feature, Import/Export policies, and Snapshot/Rollback feature

All participants will receive an electronic version of Cisco learning materials.

Technical equipment

It's recommended to bring your own notebook, but not required. All students will have their own workstation to use during the course.
